AMSOIL Transmission Fluid

AMSOIL OE Multi-Vehicle 100% Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid

Modern automatic transmissions are more complicated than their predecessors. Today's designs feature more gears, clutch packs, and narrow oil passageways that require a steady supply of high-quality fluid. Without it, wear and sludge formation can lead to reduced performance and even failure, requiring thousands of dollars in repairs. AMSOIL OE Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid provides passenger-car/light-truck transmissions excellent wear protection, sludge resistance and extreme-temperature performance throughout original equipment manufacturer (OEM)-recommended drain intervals.

AMSOIL OE Multi-Vehicle 100% Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid

AMSOIL OE Multi-Vehicle 100% Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid is a fully synthetic, broad-coverage ATF built for passenger-car and light-truck automatic transmissions that require legacy and current multi-vehicle service fills, including Dexron III, Mercon V, Toyota Type T-IV, Chrysler ATF+4, Honda/Acura ATF-Z1, and dozens of European and Asian OEM specifications. The OE-tier formulation is engineered to follow vehicle-manufacturer-recommended drain intervals while delivering wear protection, varnish resistance, and cold-weather fluidity in everyday service.

Wear protection for valve bodies, clutches, and gears

Modern automatics pack more gears and clutch packs into tight cases, which raises shear stress and concentrates load on the valve body, planetary sets, and clutch plates. OE Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF carries an anti-wear additive system that protects these high-load surfaces in normal and severe service, helping keep clutch plates clean and shift surfaces durable across the length of an OEM service interval.

Thermal stability and varnish control

Heat is the primary destroyer of automatic transmission fluid. The thermally stable synthetic base oils in OE Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF resist oxidation and the formation of varnish that can stick valves and slow shifts. The formulation also limits heat-related evaporation and viscosity loss, which helps the fluid stay in grade between scheduled service.

Cold-weather fluidity for fast, reliable shifts

Cold cranking viscosity governs how quickly transmission fluid reaches the valve body and clutch packs in winter. OE Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF posts a Brookfield Viscosity of 10,200 cP at -40 C (ASTM D2983) and a pour point of -45 C, -49 F (ASTM D97), which keeps the fluid moving for fast cold-start shifts and supports fuel-efficient operation when the transmission is still cold.

Seal conditioners and leak prevention

Aging seals and gaskets can shrink, harden, and weep, especially on higher-mileage transmissions converted from a conventional ATF. OE Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF is formulated with seal conditioners that help keep elastomer seals pliable and reduce the risk of slow leaks at the pan gasket, output shaft, and dipstick tube.

Friction modifiers for smooth, shudder-free engagement

Wet clutch shift quality depends on a controlled friction-versus-time response when each clutch pack closes. The friction modifier system in OE Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF is tuned for fast, smooth engagement, which translates to crisp shift response and clean torque transfer at light and heavy throttle.

Recommended applications and service intervals

OE Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF is recommended for passenger-car and light-truck automatic transmissions and other applications that require any of the following service fills: Allison C-4, TES-389; BMW 7045E, 8072B, LA 2634, LT 71141; Chrysler Mopar ASRC, 68089195AA, 68049954AA; Ford MERCON, MERCON V, ESP-M2C166-H, FNR5, M2C924-A, XL-12; GM DEXRON III, DEXRON II, AutoTrak II; Honda/Acura ATF-Z1; Hyundai/Kia SP-II, SP-III, Red-1; IDEMITSU K17; JASO 1A; JWS 3309, 3314, 3317; MAN 339 Type V-1, V-2, Z-1, Z-2, 339F; Mazda ATF-M III, ATFMV, F-1; Mercedes-Benz 236.1, 236.2, 236.3, 236.5, 236.6, 236.7, 236.9, 236.10, 236.11, 236.81, 236.91; Mitsubishi SP-II, SP-III, ATF-J2; Nissan Matic-D, Matic-J, Matic-K, 402; SAAB 3309; Shell 3403, LA 2634; Subaru ATF, ATF-HP; Suzuki 3314, 3317; Texaco ETL-7045E, ETL-8072B, N402; Toyota Type T, T-II, T-III, T-IV; Voith 55.6335, 55.6336; Volvo 97340, 97341; VW/Audi G 052 162, G 052 990, G 055 025; and ZF TE-ML 03D, 04D, 05L, 09, 11A, 11B, 14A, 14B, 16L, 17C, 20B, 21L.

Confirm the right service fill for the transmission with the AMSOIL vehicle lookup, and review how OE-tier fluid compares to extended-drain Signature Series in the transmission fluid products. OE Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF is compatible with conventional and synthetic ATFs that meet the same specifications, but mixing dilutes the additive system and reduces performance benefits. Aftermarket transmission additives are not recommended with this fluid. Pair the fluid change with a clean transmission filter and a fresh pan gasket for the best service result.

Frequently asked questions

What is multi-vehicle ATF, and what does it cover?

Multi-vehicle automatic transmission fluid is a single fluid blended to meet a wide range of OEM service-fill specifications rather than one carmaker spec. OE Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF covers the legacy and conventional multi-vehicle service fills listed by the formulation, including Dexron III, Mercon V, Chrysler ATF+4, Toyota Type T-IV, Honda/Acura ATF-Z1, and many European and Asian specifications. The vehicle owner manual must list one of the covered specifications before this fluid is used.

Is OE Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF a true full synthetic?

Yes. OE Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF is a 100 percent synthetic automatic transmission fluid built on synthetic base oils and an OEM-tier additive system designed to follow vehicle-manufacturer service intervals.

Can OE Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF be used in a Dexron VI or Mercon LV transmission?

No. The OE Multi-Vehicle formulation does not cover GM DEXRON VI, Ford MERCON LV or MERCON SP, Toyota WS, Honda/Acura DW-1, or Hyundai/Kia SP-IV applications. Transmissions that require those low-viscosity fluids should use AMSOIL OE Fuel-Efficient Synthetic ATF or AMSOIL Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF.

How does OE Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF compare to Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF?

OE Multi-Vehicle is the OEM-tier service fill, designed to follow the vehicle manufacturer's recommended drain interval. Signature Series Multi-Vehicle is the extended-drain top tier, formulated for severe-duty hauling, towing, fleet, and elevated-temperature service. Compare positioning and viscosity coverage in the transmission fluid products.

Can OE Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF be used in a CVT?

No. OE Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF is not formulated for continuously variable transmissions, which require a dedicated CVT fluid blended for steel-belt or chain-belt friction systems. The fluid is also not for use in Ford Type F applications.

Is OE Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF approved for Chrysler ATF+4 service?

OE Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF is warranted for Chrysler ATF+4 applications above -38 F. The fluid does not meet the cold-temperature requirement of ATF+4 at -40 F, so vehicles operating in sustained ambient temperatures at or below -40 F should use a fluid that meets the full ATF+4 cold-temperature specification.

Will using AMSOIL synthetic lubricants void a new vehicle warranty?

No. Using AMSOIL synthetic lubricants does not void a new vehicle or equipment manufacturer warranty, and AMSOIL lubricants are covered by the AMSOIL Limited Warranty.
